FAQs:

Beginners: We don't have a separate beginner track at this event - if you are interested in joining but haven't been to at least a couple of Zouk classes, please contact us beforehand and we can see if we can arrange a brush-up class before the event, or some additional support at the event. Otherwise it won't be the best experience for you!

Parking: there is a small amount of on-site parking and some roadside parking in the residential streets nearby.

Accommodation: Premier Inn Cambridge North (Girton) is 20mins easy walk away and very budget-friendly. A couple minutes further, but suuuper nice Aparthotel is the Turing Locke hotel at Eddington. Both have great parking.

Saturday activities: If we have a number of travelling Zoukers around on Saturady, we'd be keen to hang out then too - drop us a message to let us know if you're planning to be around!

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available at breaktimes for a small contribution

Nearby food options: There's a small Coop a short distance away where you can buy food. Otherwise, you may want to order takeaway or bring packed food, there are not many restaurants nearby (one pub a 20min walk away).

3hr Workshop II: Brazilian Zouk (For dancers) NORWICH

If you did the last workshop, you'll love these new variations! If you have never done Zouk before, it's still suitable for you!

Do you dance other partner dance styles, but you’re curious about Brazilian Zouk?

We know that existing dancers pick new styles up quicker than total beginners, so here is a bootcamp designed for you to progress quickly and get a great idea how Brazilian Zouk differs to styles like Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba!

What is Brazilian Zouk?

Brazilian Zouk is a beautiful partner dance which evolved from a fusion of Lambada (the “forbidden dance”) with influences from other Brazilian traditional dances. It can be danced to a huge variety of music and different moods, which makes it a very versatile and interesting dance!
Although Brazilian Zouk danced at an advanced level can include physically challenging movements, an emphasis on core technique and responsive leading and following means that we can enjoy this dance to whatever level we are ready for, with comfort and confidence.

Who is teaching this workshop?

Jenny Cousins is a very experienced Brazilian Zouk teacher, originally from Sheffield, who now lives nearby in Cambridge. She is passionate about sharing her love for the dance with anyone who will listen! As well as teaching classes, she organises regular Zouk events with guest teachers in Cambridge for the growing Zouk community there.

Tickets:
Early Bird - £20
On the Door - £30

We expect the tickets to sell out for this event as capacity is limited, so don’t delay if you want to attend! zoukcambridge.co.uk/buy-tickets/5w5bj8mgp77io2ls5a1f5ubmj0r4oe

Zouk Weekend Retreat with Nina & Matheus!

This super-cosy residential weekend will let us relax, unwind, learn and enjoy ourselves together in the beautiful environment of Clophill Eco Lodges: a gorgeous, charity-owned, environmentally-friendly venue with a mix of double and twin rooms set in lodges around a lovely central social space.

Our headline teachers this weekend will be the amazing Nina & Matheus, from whom we had a workshop in Cambridge this Spring! https://www.facebook.com/ninaandmatheus/

The weekend will involve workshops by Nina & Matheus as well as Jenny Cousins, which will aim to develop your Brazilian Zouk and give you an insight into their methodology for head movement. We’ll also start the days with optional yoga to get ourselves feeling in tip-top condition, and finish with some stretching.

We will enjoy access to the Zouk dancing space as much as we want 24/7, as well as optional countryside walks, local tour, bush skills workshop and toasting some marshmallows over the firepit!

Spaces are very limited, as the accommodation only fits 18 (and the dancing room is not big either)! So we will be a cosy select group  We will be self-catering, but get in touch with Jenny if you would like a catered option.

Please get in touch directly to make sure that you have a space before booking your ticket, because accommodation in the lodges needs to be allocated.
Babies/children/families/dogs welcome! There will be plenty for them to do too

Venue: Clophill Eco Lodges, Old Church Path, Clophill, MK45 4BP

Arrival: Friday after 4pm
Leaving: Sunday by 5pm

Ticket: £275 per person for the weekend, including accommodation, workshops and optional activities.
Towels and sheets provided, food not unless by arrangement (but supermarkets do deliver there and there is a pub nearby)

Dates: We will start on Monday 18th Feb every Monday - except we take a break on Monday 18th March. So class dates are Monday 18th, 25th Feb, 4th, 11th March, (not the 18th March,) 25th March and 1st April.
